Parkranger - Stop Making Sense Podcast

Right, it has been a while since I have done anything blog related. However this mix is worth bringing to everyone's attention. Park Ranger is a resident and promoter at Trouble Vision and he has recently turned out this mix for Stop Making Sense Festival in Croatia (12th-14th August).

It's fantastic concoction of deep house and disco, featuring tunes from some of the best labels around at present. There are a couple of unreleased bangers included, namely Lone's remix of Tensnake and Midland's reworking of Boards of Canada.

Big Pelski Lineup

The Pelski boys never dissapoint. On saturday there is going to be another one of their nights in London. The Martin Brothers are dropping in and the lads have sent me over a load of goodies to give away.

First up some deats:

After the huge success of the first two Pelski vs Jackmode at Crucifix Lane (formely Counter Culture), we’re back with an even bigger lineup, headed by none other than the The Martin Brothers (AKA Justin and Christian Martin). Held in a warehouse-esque venue under London Bridge, equipped with two formidable Funktion1 soundsystems, this one’s set to go off. Last off I've got to say that although the new stuff from Lone isn't necessarily a massive step forward from his work last year, i'm really feeling it. The R&S vinyl release is a great one for the collector. One of the vinyl's comes as see-through acetate.

Here is another Lone bit, up for Download. This one is the remix of Golden Girls. It's got that same dreamlike rave vibe that all Lone tracks seem to hold.

For those of you in London coming up this Friday is Bricks at CAMP by Old Street Station. Don't go being a fool and stay in on April Fools. There is a solid line up with Boddika, Scratcha DVA, Jam City and T. Williams making it an eye catching affair.

Boddika, aka one half of Instra:Mental, has been smashing it of late. His dark juke and acid influenced beats have been a highlight of 2011 so far. This tune was given out today by Scuba's label Hotflush, on which Mr Boddika has forthcoming material. It's a beast download below..

Introducing - Youandewan

Those of you who purchased or have listened to Midland's superb Bring Joy EP, will have found it hard to not hear the Youandewan remix.

It is a first class 11 minute long beast of a remix. An impressive journey of snappy house snare drums, muffled kicks and tinny hight hats paired with subtly stifled synths and glimmering vocals.

Admittedly a few months back I was sent a Youandewan track and it was lost in the maelstrom of emails that any present day journalism student receives. But I am finally getting round to posting that very tune.

With similar drum styles and patterns as the Midland remix it's another beauty. Sauntering along at a perfect 120bpm. I love this track because it reminds me of Watergate club in Berlin, the residents would start off the night playing slow and subtle tracks like this before smashing it later on.

Youandewan - Crosseyed & Painless

The Leeds based producer has been receiving support from some big names, here's Skream playing one of hisdubstep influenced tracks on Rinse FM

The Look

Two producers very much under the radar at present are Jacques Greene and Koreless. The two are bright talents forming part of a wider group of exciting producers that the tail end of 2010 and beginning of 2011 has thrown up.

In Canadian Jacques Greene's music there is a more recognisable house influence, contrasting with the dubstep influence present in Koreless's, although two both use brilliant vocal samples and are partial to a 2step beat. There is a warm clean feeling to Koreless's style whereas Greene's tunes carry more dance floor clout.

New Joy

It's looking very much like Pete O'Grady is set to kill it once again in 2011. Better known as Joy Orbison, the man behind big hits of last year Hyph Mngo and The Shrew Would Have Cushioned The Blow. There has been a distinct switch up in his sound. Often a slower tempo has been adopted and he borrows much from the housier side of things. It is a stirring change and one that has brought him success already with a scheduled release for Hotflush. Ladywell and BB were both great tracks with a house energy and tempo, and if you choose to believe that Sicko Cell is his too then we can safely say that this year holds sizeable amounts of good vibes for him.

Londoner James Fox's production is very strong. His tunes are brilliant in their simplicity. I like the tempo and the way in which he fades in the synths, particularly in these two tracks. Ramadanman did a good remix too of his track "Put It Back". Some people rate this guy very highly, I would have to agree with them...

Arguably the most introspective and talented producer in the UK Bass scene at the moment. A massive 2011 lies ahead. This was a true highlight......."look I found her, red coat"

2. Four Tet - Love Cry

You can easily run out of words for Kieran Hebden's work. This was the best track from the album There is Love In You

3. Tensnake - Coma Cat

Overplayed perhaps, but it doesn't matter when you don't mind hearing it for the thousandth time. A summer classic, impossible to not dance to

4. Dark Sky - Reflex

My favourite track off a strong first ep from the newcomers. This track is finally getting the plays it deserves from big dj's, Modeselektor for example. Only to be listened to with good speakers or headphones to do full justice to a fearsome and yet subtle drop.

5. Caribou - Sun

4 words - The Sound Of Summer

6. Ramadanman - Work Them

Excellent skippy beat and sampling from David Kennedy who has had an amazing 2010.

7. Addison Groove - Footcrab

Some people found it annoying, others loved it. Juke influenced, repetitive vocal samples and genius. It's also amazing trying to watch people dance to this tune (most people look very awkward)

8. T Williams ft. Terri Walker - Heartbeat (Mosca Remix)

A record with a lot of soul and feeling. Terri walker has an amazing voice. Mosca on the buttons to add in the sliding bass.

9. Ramadanman and Midland - Your Words Matter

Shows David kennedy's ability to make amazing music of all genres. Midland is one to watch for 2011. A great house track with a good build up

10. Gil Scott Heron - I'm New Here (Jamie XX Remix)

Anything involving Gil Scott Heron is interesting at least. Jamie's idea to work with him has produced an fantastic album, he is an inventive young producer.

11. Pearson Sound - Blanked

A late comer, but it had to be in here purely for the reason that is has the most epic breakdown i've ever heard. It's totally indescribable....David Kennedy once again takes the plaudits.

12. Kyle Hall - Kaychunk

Not normally the speed that the young Detroit producer operates at but it doesn't matter. A lovely swirling synth line.

13. Moody - It's 2 Late For U and Me

Chicago house at it's finest...acid, keys, the works. Very smooth.

14. Mosca - Tilt Shift

Slow and heavy. Mosca is another producer with a big year in front of him.

15. Axel Boman - Purple Drank

Followed the trend of warped vocals this year, but did it better than most.

16. Space Dimension Controller - Transatlantic Landing Bay

Cosmic Space Jazz. I imagine myself flying through space listening to this track, incredible synth lines throughout.

18. Nicolas Jaar - Time For Us

HYPE! young and so, so, so much hype. But this is a good track. Dark and moody.

19. Pariah - The Slump

Brilliant clunky and skipping 2step. The whole Safehouses ep was very impressive.

20. Boogaloo Crew - Vitamins

Amazing stuttered soulful vocal sampling and great bass.

21. Endgames - Ecstasy (Jam City Refix)

Stabby, sub bass and some brilliant rave stabs. The unsung release on Night Slugs.

22. Breach - Fatherless

Ben Westbeech's side project. A brilliant bassy tune, always ripped up dance floors with it's buildup and drop into flute loop chaos.

23. Round Table Knights - Calypso

Tropical tech house at it's best. The steel drums create a true carnival vibe when this one gets played out

24. Joy Orbison - The Shrew Would Have Cushioned The Blow

The good stuff one comes to expect of Joy Orbison. Very atmospheric 2step.

25. Ogris Debris - Miezekatze

Very original vocals, impossible not to bop up and down when it's played.

26. Floating Points - People's Potential

Jazzy off kilter track from Sam Sheppard. The Pharmacology student with a penchant for being one of the best underground producers on the Uk scene.

27. Lawrence - Divided (Kassem Mosse Remix)

Deep, shudderingly deep house.

28. Girl Unit - Wut

Very crunk tune, which destroys dance floors everywhere. The most celebrated release from the Night Slugs label who finished off the year with their All Stars Vol.1 Album.

29. The XX - Crystalised (Dark Sky Remix)

The XX had their work remixed by many different people. This is the best of what I think is their best song. Dark Sky took it down the 2step route and came out with one of the most hyped and popular remixes around this year.

30. Quest - Smooth Skin

Smooth, deep and slow dubstep from the Deep Medi Music maestro.

31. Cosmin TRG - Sores of Attraction

Wavering house with soaring synths and bass lines. Shows that the Romanian is capable of creating some real surprises.

32. Caribou - Leave House (Motor City Drum Ensemble)

There are almost too many Caribou remixes, this one has a great bass line, heavy kick drum and tinny snare added to it to give it the MCDE vibe.

33. Mount Kimbie - Carbonated

The best track off the album Carbonated, which was great. Truly a celebration of the raw talent in Uk Bass music.

Clap trap drums and infectious bass throughout, a real house track.

Futuristic dark material from Jack Dunning, the man behind one of the best labels.

37. Sbtrkt ft. Sampha - Look At Stars

Sbtrkt's EP with Young Turks is very strong, Sampha's brilliant voice adds so much to this track.

38. Julio Bashmore - The Moth

Lovely wavering house from the Bristolian bad man that is Julio Bashmore. A fine track which featured on Elevator Music Vol.1.

39. Mosca - Square One (Julio Bashmore Remix)

Trademark heavy sub bass and kick drum from Mr Bashmore, he has a fine release on the way in January.

40. Martyn - Left Hander

The new relesase from Dutch master Martyn. Influences from Detroit Techno in this clappy 2 step tune.

41. Doc Daneeka - Hold On

Amazing Mowtown soul samples layered over some uk funky style drums.

42. The 2 Bears - Follow The Bear

A big synth loop, dark vocals. A side project from Hot Chip's guitarist Joe Goddard

Fantastic booty shaking disco house. Hot Creations had a very good year and will continue to make great party music into 2011

Weighty bass and synth arrangements. Slick buildups and drops all over the place. Testament to the great music released on AUS Music

A painfully catchy and infectious track

More excellent and highly original material from the man they call Fly Lo. Cosmogramma is a great album

The Bulgarian master of all things four to the floor hits again with an infectious slab of disco style synths.

What a talent! Really one to look out for, a brilliantly produced song made even better by Woon's crooning vocals. No wonder Burial wanted to work him, the boy got soul.

49. Maxmillion Dunbar - Girls Dream

Low tempo, souful track with a skippy hip hop beat. His new album is out on Ramp records, worth a listen

50. Solar Bears - Twin Stars (Lone Remix)

A bright talent! Nottingham's finest bring us a fantastic mish mash of styles.

A free Midland remix is always worth talking about, and thanks to Fact Magazine here we have one. Although I feel it's not his strongest to date, this mix of Ariel by Stateless still breathes out the warm and ambient sound that the young Leeds based producer has become notorious for creating. As i've said before definitely one to keep an eye on. What with the remixes of Caribou and Boards of Canda, the collaboration with Ramadanman and the excellent Change the Game EP, it looks like he's going to have a big 2011...

Things Become Klearer

Krystal Klear is not a producer I had heard of at all until last wednesday. I was up at a ridiculous hour locked into Gilles Peterson's weekly show when he dropped a remix of one of his tracks. The remix happened to be by Hudson Mohawke a producer usually associated with the off kilter hip hop beats that California left field juggernaut Warp Records put out. I liked it a lot and looked into Krystal Klear to learn that he is releasing the orignal and the remix on a 12" for All City Records.

The original is sure to make you throw down a few shapes with it's boogie claps and synths patterns. The Hud Mo remix is not something you would expect, but it's brilliant.

As the snow starts to fall outside I turn the heating up a couple of notches and dream of sunnier shores. Christmas is fast approaching, the time to stay indoors and relax amongst and good beat or two. With a background in guitar music and it's production it is no coincidence that James Welch's (Seams) music has the clean and organic feel that so many producers crave to have associated with their music. It helps that he uses a cassette dictaphone to capture field recordings which he then uses in his songs. His release on London based recording label Pictures consists of tracks which use the recordings made over a summer spent in Berlin. If you visit his soundcloud you can have a listen to Nightcycles which uses snippets of sound from a night time bike ride through the city.

He's exciting young producer with a fresh perspective on music production, context is important to him...

“As I don’t write songs with words, recreating moods and experiences is much more what I’m about I guess. There is still a meaning behind the music, it’s just slightly less literal. When people told me they listened to “Nightcycles” when riding their bikes at night, that totally was a win for me.”

Solar Funk

Kyle Hall is now widely known as one of the best young talents in Detroit music. This brilliant slab of shuffling beats, funky synths and warped vocals is testament to that fact. If one were to come up with some kind of over the top genre name for this kind of music it would go along the lines of cosmic jazz funk...

From a Detroit citizen proper, to a German whose name stands as a tribute to the influence that music from the Michigan city has had on him. I've posted many times about Motor City Drum Ensemble but there never seems a point to stop. This young and very talented producer has had countless releases that have blown people away. This remix of Caribou's "Leave House" is deep vocal heavy beauty. A nice heavy bass line and tinny drums are fused together to create what I consider to one of the best remixes of Caribou around.

Danish Kenton Slash Demon had one of the best releases of 2009 in Khattabi. This is a track off a recent release called Sun. Very nice rolling bass line and snappy beat is complimented by great vocals and sampling. Check out their Myspace and the video for this track it's great.

I have not been posting a lot recently. The lack of internet at my flat and the rigours of the 3rd year of university have made it hard to update regularly.

Nevertheless, I have to turn your attention towards this event. It is not to be missed. A stellar line up in an amazing venue just south of the river. Jackmode, the Berlin based booking and management agency have teamed up the Pelski boys to create a night of tribal infused house mayhem.

I am excited and happy, while sitting here (taking full advantage of my universities free internet). It's about that time when the Deadfish boys are back. For those of you who went to any of the old Family and Friends nights at Public Life you will surely have experienced the joyful atmosphere and fantastic housey beats on offer. I would like to think that Mowgli and Solo need no introduction at all. The london based Italians have been making fresh tech/house, midget beats since the tail end of 2008. Deadfish has turned into one of the most respected underground record labels in the capital with some very exciting artists on their roster, Camel, Tom Flynn to name a few....

Midland Fact Mix

Midland is going to blow up at the tail end of this year I feel. A friend and collaborator of Ramadanman, there has already been notable success earlier on in the year when the two released Your Words Matters on AUS. Midland himself then released Play the Game on Phonica Records a brilliant four track ep which really bored out his own sound. Originally he started out dj-ing Drum and Bass around Leeds, but after a self imposed i-pod ban during a holiday he came back to concentrate on making slower music.

He makes brilliant house and techno often with a rigid beat accompanied by vocal samples and snippets. Maybe corresponding to living with Ramadanman or just because of a good knowledge and love of music, there is a striking influence on his music from the deeper, more experimental forms of dubstep.

This mix done for Fact Magazine is bursting full of unreleased goodies from the man himself, including beautiful re workings of Boards of Canada and Caribou. All together a fantastic mix of house, techno and downtempo....he is definitely one to watch out for

If it's Dilla-esque beats you like than Shigeto is the man to look out for. Great similarities can be drawn between the two I feel. At the same time I feel comparisons can be drawn between everybody's favourite Glaswegian, Hudson Mowhawke, and Shigeto. The skipyness of the beats, the use of sampling and beat driven rhythm sections, and the way he layers and textures his production is amazing.

He's signed to Ghostly International and all his work can be found on Beatport. Well worth Checking out...

Pelski returns yet again and this time the lineup is bigger and better than any before. The venue has changed to a more intimate space too. The last Pelski Presents night featured a tech house headliner, this time round Pangaea has stepped in to take the reigns.

The young-gun producer is arguably one of the finest purveyors of dubstep from the deeper more skippy end of the spectrum. Memories and Router are still two of my favourite dubstep tracks ever made. His self titled ep has blown everyone away in 2010 and to top it all off he co-runs Hessle Audio with Ben UFO and Ramadanman. Deep, melodic and percussive dubstep/2step is what you should expect to hear from the man.

Pariah's Safehouses ep has been another highlight of 2010. The ep, comprising of a brilliant mixture of 2step tracks with influences across the board has had Pariah rightly tipped for big things. Often in Pariah's production you notice the influence of soulful house and r'n'b even uk funky and detroit house. Memorable productions of his include the brilliantly soulful Orpheus and the skippy bass heavy banger The Slump.

One of the biggest tunes of the summer and an instant recognisable classic - Tensnake's Coma Cat has taken it's place amongst some of the greatest songs in dance music. It is inevitable that with such popularity will come mainstream air-time on Radio1 and the like. Nevertheless I don't think this song will reach the pedestal of irritating overkill that songs like Day & Night and Mars currently sit atop. It is a song which results in euphoria in almost room it's played in. Some will think i'm giving it too much, but I genuinely believe it's a classic.

Tensnake is a fantastic producer and I was lucky enough to see him perform a live set at Fabric in the tail end of last year. All melodic and upbeat rhythms and synths, It really is impossible not to tap a foot to his work let alone throw some disco shapes. He is playing at Bestival this week end and I am sure will be just a pleasing to those who go and watch him.

The man hailing from Hamburg in Germany has some more remixes in the pipeline notably of Goldfrapp and Azari & III. No doubt some more original material is on the way too. He has many influences but most importantly he lists the great Herbie Hanncock as one of his main influences, hence the multitude of key tapping madness during his live shows.

Round Table Knights have barely put a foot wrong since they burst onto the scene. The Swiss duo tap into that amazing brand of upbeat tech house that no-one can resist at 4 in the morning. Unfortunately the blog would probably be shut down if I gave it away full 320, so a 192 will have to suffice.

Pelski's at Big Chill

Alright, so those of you who went down to Pelski's first night at the Big Chill House in King's Cross will know how sick it was. The combination of a good venue and good line-up is hard to beat. Big Chill is one of the top venues in London, although it does not have the best sound system. It is made up for totally by a friendly easy going crowd, good roof terrace and sick drinks menu.

For the second instalment the Pelski boys have looked to Berlin's legendary Get Physical label for a headliner. The Northern Irish duo Jet Project came up trumps. "The critically acclaimed Jet Project (from Booka Shade's Get Physical) bring the sub-aquatic sounds of dubbed up tech-house"

Second headliner Mackaveli has copped himself a regular spot on the 1's and 2's at Fabric so he must be doing something right. His mixes are a must listen.
"Fabric resident Mackaveli will be turning us over with his usual mix of twisted 2-step and sharp techno cuts"

Support comes in the shape of the Trouble Vision boys Solid Gold & Park Ranger who you can always count on to play the latest and greatest tracks. Pelski contributor Charles Darkly brings things to a close in the early hours.

I like to draw your attention to what I think is one of the finest newcomer house tunes i've heard all summer. I know the last post was Zev's forget the world, which is pretty hard to trump. Nevertheless this track from the young Canadian Sean Roman is excellent. I discovered it via one of my favourite blogs Palms Out Sounds so big thanks to them. Alongside Kyle Hall and Nicolas Jaar, Motor City Drum Ensemble is the one of the finest young producers out there. I personally consider them to be a unorthodox holy trinity of young house producers. MCDE is my favourite though he's beyond talented.

122bpm detroit style monster. I love mixing this tune ever since I heard it on a mix by Mosca.

Ilario Alicante - Vacaciones En Chile

A lovely minimal tune from Italian Ilario Alicante. Without meaning to sound cheesy this has got the "i'm still awake, fucked and finding dancing difficult at 11am" vibe. Nevertheless a really nice guitar sample. The kind of tune you would expect to here in Ibiza I suppose....

It is rare and beautiful thing when a producer successfully uses a clever sample idea. In this case Zev (Wolf + Lamb) uses the beautiful voice of the undisputed Queen of Soul: Aretha Franklin. I can't really describe how much I love this song. I've been listening to it and mixing everyday since the day I downloaded it. A beautifully deep, wavy and warm journey through four to floor and bass. With the spectacular vocals taken from Franklin's 1967 hit Do Right Woman, Do Right Man, it has taken the blogosphere by storm. Did I hear somebody say anthem?

Nicolas Jaar, 19

Jaar was born in NY, raised in Chile and returned to the apple in his teens. His name is the one on everybody's lips at the moment. As the profile of New York based Wolf + Lamb records increases, so does the hype around Jaar. His frist ever release was with Wolf + Lamb at the tender age of 17, he has recently had a scintillating podcast mix put out via Resident Advisor and he is clearly very clever as he is now studying at one of the US's top Universities. Everything is looking good for the youngster. But is all this hype so necessary?

It is easy to make a fuss about his age, but it's warranted as he is younger than the genre itself and there aren't many young'uns out there. Techno is a genre of ageing veterans. The Beltram's, the Lawler's and the Atkins are not in their prime. Seth Troxler described him as one "of the most talented minds that dance music is about to see develop". A mind heavily influenced by the most famous Chilean in dance music Ricardo Villalobos. It was Villalobos' work which introduced Jaar to techno and since then he has made strides towards becoming a bigger and better producer than the man himself. Jaar has many other influences including Ethiopian Jazz legend Mulatu Astatke and of course a Latin tinge from his time spent in Chile.

One thing can be said of the youngster he produces very forward thinking music, it's not all necessarily very danceable but there are some club classics in his armoury of releases. You can be sure that you will seeing and hearing a lot more of this guy in the future.......

Claude Von Stroke stands out as one of the great names of the electronic music scene. People who don't even listen to techno will have at some point have heard of him or heard his music. Tim Green's remixes of artists like Booka Shade, Cassius and Tiefschwarz have become anthems in the scene too, so only good things can happen when work from the two producers is combined

It has been somewhat inactive around these parts recently. I have just returned from a trip to Berlin, a city I always wanted to visit because of the techno scene present everywhere. Let me just say to anyone who has thought of going at any point DO IT! I have never been out in such a nice environment. The city itself is amazing and there is so much to see and do and at night it goes mad. I can safely say Watergate is the best club I have ever been to. Berliners go out on Friday nights and come back on Sunday afternoon...that's how it should be done

Polar opposite to the pounding techno and fresh minimal sound waves one can sample in der fatherland is the unique sound of UK funky. Because it's summer and it's shining it's a good time to whack out some funky vibes and act like snoop and 2 pac in the photo above....

The thing I love the most about his production especially on Throwback is the drums, the snare is beastly, they've got such a good snappy feel to them. Any how I strongly recommend dishing out some coin for this beauty of a release......have a listen here though

FAT! Records are back after two years in the wilderness. Foamo aka Kye Gibbon has been quiet by his standards of late. This is a return to form though. Jookie is the new 2 track ep which dropped on monday. Jookie is the a-side and has been getting plays from loads of top players Zinc, Julio Bashmore and Drop the Lime to name a few. Vibeing off the approaching sunny days and festival season Kye has produced two tracks sure to rip up floors and festivals all summer.

"JOOKIE represents a subtle yet decided shift away from the 'bass in your face' approach. Drumline percussion, marching horns and ever-rising synths are underpinned by a growling bassline. The drop recalls Dubfire, simultaneously transporting you to the dancefloor at Space as the track becomes some kind of twisted rolling monster. CENTAVO sees Foamo reworking the formula. I've been meaning to do a post on this guy for a while. Headhunter has never been one of those producers to have one particularly outstandingly successful song . His album Nomad released back 2008 was a success but it never reached giddy heights. Despite saying all this the Bristolian producer is a widely respected DJ and producer, he has had constant releases on Tempa which Skream also releases on. But it's not until he decided to produce under a new moniker of Addison Groove and do his own take on a form of Chicago born music called Juke House that he has had his first straight out hit.

If you haven't heard it yet, it's called Footcrab and you might be surprised when you first do. If you're out and you hear it, don't try and dance to it you'll look very weird trying to. None of this is making it sound good but I think this song is great, it's got some nice chords, a steady beat and two very nice vocal samples pieced together to make one of the most original and fun productions of the year so far...

He has been on doing stuff on Radio with none other than Ms Mary Anne Hobbs and done an amazing mix for here show, it's all skittering beats and moody synths and it's well worth a listen

I think a lot of people, including me, are getting excited about these guys. London 3 piece Dark Sky have really been making a name for themselves on the UK bass music scene since they started making beats about 8 months ago. A fantastic dreamy remix of the xx's Crystalised got them notoriety and an even better single release on Black Acre featuring tracks Something To Loose and Ghost Notes have really propelled them into the frame.

This is a brilliant mix of compressed and distorted vocals paired with complex fluttering synth lines and a hefty 2 step beat which stays the whole track.

Mirrors - Change (Dark Sky Remix)

They have a 4 track ep forthcoming on London label Pictures and an incredible bootleg of Timbaland's Promiscuous Girl, which i've been lucky enough to hear and it's a dance floor weapon.

They got gigs coming up in Manchester and London, at Corsica Studios and Area 51 at the Black Acre Showcase and Hit and Run respectively. Check the Myspace for dates

Dub Souljah's is a new night launching on Friday the 9th of April, at Kings Cross venue The Driver. A solid lineup topped by the formidable Silkie and a heavy duty sound system equates to a night of sub bass mayhem.

Silkie has been one of the few artists to keep the original sound of dubstep ever present in his production. The constant splitting up of dubstep into various sub genres over the last few years, has meant that fewer producers stay true to the old style sound. Silkie has kept it together but has let various elements influence his sound too, it all pieces together to create an exhilarating mash up of style and a fantastic sound.

I'm feeling stuff a groovy soulful vibe right now, hopefully I've picked out some nice stuff for you to groove too as well.

Strictly speaking this isn't so in keeping with the soulful vibe, but it's a real bouncer of a track. London's Seiji made a name for himself remixing various people and has shown himself to be a varied and multi-talented producer. This is an original track of his, bouncy drums and stabbing synth slabs galore, be sure to come to Trouble Vision at Corsica Studios in London to see more of this....

Oliver $ has been around a while now. In 2007 he co produced with Jesse Rose and has since gone from strength to strength and now has several releases on Rose's brilliant label Made to Play. This a track from one of the latest ep's has been much hyped and played out by the usual crowd of tech house dj's (ZDS, Renaissance Man, Riva Starr). It's a jazzy number, got to love it...

Oliver $ - Lost Arrival

Everyone knows Pilooski because of his edit of Frankie Valli's Beggin, which unfortunately became one of those songs that is played on main stream radio 8 times a day and driven into the ground. This is by no means new material from the French man, it's different and more interesting though.

A collaboration between Jaimie Jones and Lee Foss. Everything these two do together is made with the party and most probably the ladies in mind. Nice soulful house

Hot Natured - Modern Amusement

What to say about Roy. He is a house music legend and general soulful geezer. You should recognize this tune it's a classic. Made in the early 1990's it's been an inspiration to so many, Gilles Peterson put it on desert island mix, has to be a contender, right?

Hendrix Rhythms

Anyway you look at it Warp is an amazing label. They have scores of fantastic artists on their bill Hudson Mohawke for example, who has been hugely successful since the release of his album Butter. Flying Lotus is also on Warp and anyway you look at him, he is the fucking man. His small label Brainfeeder has some of the most original and cutting edge artists around and his tunes are spectacular too (coming from the same bloodline as John Coltrane could only really equate to being good at creating sound waves).

Gonjasufi is the man i'm digging right now though. His album A Sufi and a Killer is out now on Warp and is truly spectacular. The guy used to be a Yoga teacher in California until he had a dream.....

"I had a dream one time that I was at an outdoor Hendrix concert and all of a sudden, as Jimi walked towards the stage, our eyes locked, man. It was just fucking intense. Intense. When I woke up, I felt like he was checking on me, like, 'Hey, I'm watching you bro.'"

He obviously thought it was time to start making music after that particular nights sleep. His album is like no other released in 2010 or the end of 2009 for that matter. Drawing on influences from all over the place it is hard to pin down and label his music with a particular genre, but it's better that way anyway. He's got a pretty good voice too which appears in a number of the tracks....

Delphic Remixes

Delphic are a 3 piece band from Manchester. They blend euphoric sounding electronic elements with guitars and indie drumming to create a very original upbeat and danceable form of indie electronica. They have been hyped up a lot by the BBC and are one of the 15 shortlisted music acts for the BBC Sound of 2010. As of January they've been placed 3rd in the table. Their music leaves a lot of potential for remixing so it's not surprising that three of the Uk's best young house producers have stepped up to the task.

L-Vis 1990, Julio Bashmore and Doc Daneeka have all had a go. Wait till the 1.50 mark of the L-Vis track for the huge drop that we've all come to love and expect from his productions. I like this one because it really keeps the vocals of the song together in the breakdown, then smashes everything all over the place when it drops, one for the dance floor for sure.

Julio Bashmore adds the trademark pounding bassline and snappy beat, while keeping the fading synth slabs

Doc Daneeka hits up the percussive style beat and cut up vocal samples, and slaps over another pounding bassline

heavy stuff, and just another indication of the seriously good stuff coming out of the Uk House/Uk Funky crossover....

Welcome to C*L*A*S*H - Have you got the Pod Factor?

C*L*A*S*H is an mp3 player soundclash night, the rules are as follows : 8 teams of roughly 3-5 people are entered then put against each other like in a boxing match.

There is no knowledge of mixers or decks required. It is purely plug and play, for all you who don't have mixing skills you can surely relate. The teams 'battle' each other in heats. They play three tracks alternately - there are no rules as to what they play, anything goes. After they finish the crowd decides who goes through to the next round.

The eight teams are whittled down to two finalists, from which the crowd will pick an Ultimate Winner and Champion

It will be compered by Big Rich with DJs spinning tunes before, after and between the heats. Entry is free and the drinks are cheap at the King's Cross Social Club

It's going to be a furious battle for the trophy. Come down and watch me take the crown in the name of CrashBleepBang.... although i'm sure i'm up against some serious competition in the form of Slutty Fringe and the other teams....they're going to get served

I've been loving Julio Bashmore's stuff for while and he has consistently been laying out big tracks equal amounts of time. He's been in blog rotation for quite a bit but as more and more dj's play his tracks and remixes the attention has got huge. He's been signed to Claude Von Stroke's label Dirtybird, which clearly means he's doing something that's flicking switches.

Bringing you some tunes straight out of the frying pan state today. VVV is a producer from Austin, Texas is the US of A. He blends dubstep, 2-step, garage and his own experimental touch together to create some top tunes. The sound is not dissimilar to the one coming out of the UK at the moment. He's getting a big rep on dubstep and future garage forums and has stuff scheduled for release on the same label as Shortuff....

This track reminds me a lot of Burial's work. 2-step beat, stabbing synths and a subby bass line, there are some pretty trippy vocal samples underneath the whole thing.

Deep Days Vol. 1 might be worth getting

I recently got hold of a compilation mix by Doppelganger which I think many of you might enjoy. Deep House has had some what of a revival in the past year and although this is not strictly just deep it has quite an authoritative thumb on the musical pulse of current Dance music. I won't give you the whole thing but instead press you to buy it from here, instead here are two of the tunes I most enjoyed.

The first tune is by French producer Nhar. This isn't really such a Deep House tune as it's more Tech-House. Even so it has a nice gradual build and some nice ominous beats. Those who don't put in the time to listen will think it goes nowhere but wait till the 4th minute and it will delve into different depths;

Nhar - Lotus

Ante Perry is no stranger in Dortmund but over here he most probably is. 'Tasty' is a pretty sophisticated tune with it's continuous central beat. Even so it builds well and has nice overlapping lyrics. This is in many ways the kind of song not many people listen to or download but is loved on a big night out. Anyway enjoy;

Got three big tunes from some of the best funky/garage/2-step/house producers that london is throwing out....

Not his first mention on this blog, it's Roska. Here's a remix he's done of Love Cry by Four Tet. Joy Orbison has already had a pretty sweet crack at it, Roska has gone super funky with it. Percussive drums and a nice scaled bassline, one to skank to. There is only one thing that bugs me about Roska tunes and that's the roska! roska! roska! vocal samples, but I suppose that it's kind of like his signature....

Doc Daneeka, another associated with things tropical and funky. Taking on a Jazzanova tune, the result is a song that I literally can't not bounce to. Love the vocal samples, sweet bouncy bassline and stabby beat. Big!

Mosca and Greena are both young and on the rise. Keep an eye on both, and at the same time Nightslugs the new London label run by Bok Bok, there's going to be some wicked tunes coming out on it. Check out Greena's XLR8R podcast, full of tracks from top players...

Alright so we done post about TLGB before. He should be regarded as a beacon of hope for wobbly house fans out there, those who like their drops dirty and the synths to wobble all over the place. Although I personally feel that there is only so far the fidget house thing could be taken, TLGB still produces very good stuff unlike a lot of the artists that got everyone so hooked on low frequency osiclations back in 2008 to the beginning of 2009. Like most Kidda remixes it has a euphoric feel to it and tight vocal hooks. It's probably a tune more suited to summer, but that doesn't take anything away from the tight production. It's the cowbell in the drum beat that I enjoy most, good stuff from the man they call Bond, more electronic and bleepy rather just a 4x4 beat with a shit loads of wobbles, it's more layered and tight.

Album Review: Heligoland by Massive Attack

Yes thats right everyone ones favorite downtempo electronic outfit are back. The Bristol duo haven't made an album since 2003 so much could be expected from it. As per usual it's a small album of 10 songs and as per usual has some brilliant vocalists; Horace Andy, Hope Sandoval and Martina Topley-Bird. The vocalists although being so different create a weird sense of continuity throughout the album. But anyway onto the individual songs of which I'll give a score out of 5.

Saturday Come Slow - Acoustic with bass describes it best with roaming lyrics. Solemn but very epic it is hard to describe in influence but it is Massive Attack through and through. 4/5

Rush Minute - Similar to the song above, light and ominous with dark tones. Genre wise hard to define, is it Rock, Leftfield, Downtempo or just plain Electronica. 3/5

Flat of The Blade - Weird but a nice sample. Needs a remix, it seems a bit confused. 2/5

Girl I Love You - Very 90's prodigy-esque. Really nice lyrics. Perfect soundtrack music, can imagine hearing it in a Danny Boyle film. 4.5/5

Splitting The Atom - Really enjoyed this. Weird but nice sampling, plus Horace Andy sounds brilliant. 4/5

Babel - Surreal again, starts off slow but builds and builds. Martina sounds brilliant as ususal, reminds me Zero7. 3.5/5

Pray For Rain - Nice beat but pretty dark. Tunde Adebimpe has a nice voice but it's not very enjoyble. 2.5/5

Psyche - Martina at her best, beautiful song. It's simply done with an ongoing melody that descends into darker wisps. 4.5/5

Paradise Circus - The best, really. Nice Lyrics with nice Piano. Going to be their breakthrough single probably due partly to it's catchiness and even when it loses the piano it keeps the magic. 5/5, deservedly.

Atlas Air - Some very nice sounds, but it's too long. 2/5

Overall Score - 4/5

With weak points and strong points it gets a very good score but really for effort it deserves a full score. The album has such a nice flow and continuity that it is in many ways a masterpiece. Reminds me a bit of Booka Shade's last album; Not about making club tunes but making great music. It truly deliver good music not just good Dance music. Please buy it because It's too valuable to give away for free.

The Darling of the East

When you think of the Middle East, clubbing and electronic music doesn't instantly spring to mind. Darling Farah is changing that, he's already been hyped up in the blogosphere, but rightly so. His productions vary from being heavy electro style to more minimal housey format.

James Blake (whose track Air and Lack Thereof features in the 09 top 25) is killing it too, although there productions vary in style and genre. His haunting track Sparing the Horses has been given a working over from Darling Farah, who isn't even old enough to get into a club yet, let alone DJ in one. He gives it a more ravey feel, adding in more filter and buildups, it certainly adds more club appeal to the track.....

I have not written for a while due to my heavy load of work parted with chronic laziness. I has been cured though, I assure you. So to say sorry here is a massive post to tend to your musical needs.

Jump up Dubstep

So first up is a little known artist called 501 who over the past few months has been making some filthy jump up Dubstep. This tune is a true club banger which would make any crowd nod their heads towards the DJ. It is a homage to that industrial, transform-esqe, truly electronic sound that became very prominent in the last quarter of 2009. Anyway enjoy responsibly.

With it I though I'd put a true banger which as well is very club friendly, of course it's Benga. I loved 'Man On A Mission' when it first came out but this Chef VIP adds a bit more bounce to it. Deep beats and a rolling bassline make it an ideal tune to get you moving.

I never like Kings of leon. My sister liked them about 6 years ago and were alright but they just sound whiney. I did like 'Milk' though and it's always seemed to be quite 'epic'. Anyway Dub & Run have created a simple bouncey version. The original is pretty depressing and like the original it keeps that omnipresent darkness and simplicity. The bouncey bassline dub keeps it going and makes it a nice little remix.

When I came across this a moth ago I immediately felt this was a truly brilliant remix. It is a remix of Oddysey. Housey but light with an indie feel may seem like an off putting description but I really do not do it justice. Rumbling but deep it is enjoyable and emotional. I think most people should like this so please download it;

Phaeleh at the moment is one of my favorite producers and luckily a month or so ago he released an absolute scorching EP. The tune I've decided to give you is a pretty beautiful song. It really shows the range of the genre, this could be soundtrack music. Light and techy with Indian sounds it's a perfect song for dusk. Please enjoy but download the full EP to get the even more brilliant 'Beautiful Lies'.

The new Martyn Fabriclive CD is not for the faint hearted, or those who have an aversion to Techno. The song that really caught my eye was this tune by Maddslinky. It's weird and wonderful with a nice little 2-step bounce to it with a xylophone playing in the background. Anyway enjoy, if you can.

Two tunes I've recently rediscovered are absolute gems but both very different. Method mans album 'The Prequel' has got some nice tunes on it but most prolifically is 'Afterparty'. It feature Ghostface Killer as well as an added bonus. I like it mostly due to string instruments featuring quite prominently making an extremely catchy beat. Enjoy, it is awesome.

I found this lying at the end of my itunes and made me feel very dirty indead, only Noiz & Excisions could do this to me. It reminds me of Von Stroke's 'Vocal Chords' due to it being largely composed of a mans voice. It's dark and dirty with a horrific bassline. Enjoy extremely loudly;

Although a bit later than originally handed out, here is an early Christmas present from the Boogaloo Crew. It's their reworking of DRT's Rising Sun, more of a summer tune in my opinion but that doesn't take away anything from the fact the production is beaut. As we've said before on this blog these guys have serious talent, all their tunes will get you bouncing, as will their dj sets.....

London based djs and producers the Boogaloo crew just released this mix in collaboration with Boxfresh. I can't speak more highly about this duo, they've already got a backlog of quality beats up on their Myspace, and a fresh new side project called Dark Sky, which is set to kill it....

Time for a big post now, full of house tracks sure to make you bounce like the character above, Zebedee from the Magic Roundabout who as you can see has a lower body made entirely of springs, so he's probably somewhat an expert on the activity.

Drop the Lime's most recent release Set Me Free has been remixed by Reso and Zombie Disco Squad to name two of many. Harvard Bass's effort is by my favourite, it's a very stabby house remix with a nice breakdown and drop. I can't get enough of this at the moment...

I don't know too much about them, but they are a brass ensemble who play gigs in very exotic places like Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Beer Sheva (I don't know where that is). Anyway, this is a remix by INSPKTR and it's sweet.

Balkan Beat Box - Bulgarian Chicks (INSPKTR Bootleg)

Malente and Dex are up next and following on from the gypsy theme. The German producers who team up quite often, who make some very interesting music have made another very bouncy house tune. They've sampled some gypsy style horns and vocal stabs. Very nice stuff, check out all their stuff, including the Jan Driver Remix of their track Lions, which you can cop over at the brilliant you can call me pelski blog.

I'm a big fan of 16 Bit's work. They shocked everyone when they released Chainsaw Calligraphy, possibly one of the filthiest and yet most inventive dubstep tunes around. And since then they have been making some big tracks. Check out Cobra if you haven't heard it already it's a tidy bit of production featuring some sweet sitar samples at the beginning.

I got my hands on these a couple of days ago and was once again shocked to find that these boys have started producing more chilled out stuff, I'm loving the more chilled vibe at the moment. So it's out with the chainsaw samples, in with the garage style samples and a less aggressive beat.

Thats Far Too Loud

'Shaizerpoopen' was what I said the first time I heard the drop on this song. It can only be 'Dancefloor Destroyer' by Far Too Loud. Breaks is absolutely incredibly energetic and fun and I can't understand why it's not more popular. This tune epitomizes that energy taking a well known Classical tune and making it Bass heavy. It can seem get quite repetitive after the drop BUT it builds and builds until a mighty booooooooossssshhhh, in the 4 min mark. Anyway it certainly does what it titles implies, enjoy fucking loud;

Remixing is what I love allot. Making songs more accessible to people who are genre bound is a great thing. The remixes I'm gonna are offer are thus of very very big tunes.

First up is a remix of 2pac's 'Do For Love'. The original is one of Pac's best songs and the remix is too. It starts of with original rhythm with a D n' B beat. When the lyrics hit in the true beauty of the song emerges.

'Teardrops' is by many seen as an untouchable song. It is basically perfect. I do though welcome a fresh remix and Mad Professor has done just that. My mate Oli got me onto it and I thank him for it. It's a dubby little version that doesn't take much away but I reckon if you like that Florence and the Machine remix then you'll enjoy this.

If anyone asked me previous to getting hold of this album whether Wu-Tang Clan could be remixed I would have probably said no. Now I'm offended it's not been done before. I especially like Method Man, RZA & Masta Killa and their voices suit perfectly the dark levels that Dubstep can take you to. Anyway I'll give you two tunes as a little teaser to the album but it is seriously worth buying.

First up is a remix by Soroka a Brooklyn based DJ. The tune has a nice orchestral and wobbly start up until the two minute mark. Then the lyrics of GZA and Ghostface get dropped in. Dark but pretty sublime.

The Next remix is by big boys Baobinga & I'D. This tune puts more emphasis on Method Mans lyrics with a raw low end wobble.

Even if you do not like either of these two be sure to check out the album, it's got remixes by DZ, Stenchman and Scuba. I personally love this Hip-Hop/ Dubstep cross over.

Talen Riddims

Easy, so I got some mail from Mouthwatering Records, a label based in Switzerland. They sent over tracks from one of their artists called Talen. Two Djs and producers also from Switzerland. They've recently got played on Radio 1 from Mary Anne Hobbs.

They are on a hip hop/club/dancehall tip, and have teamed up with the legendary Cutty Ranks and Sizzla both of whom spit on tracks on their forthcoming EP.

Mouthwatering Records had this to say on the EP and track

"Kingston Book is Talen’s debut EP release and features Jamaican danehall heroes Sizzla and Cutty Ranks, with remixes by Stereotyp and Markus Kienzl. You always need songs that can appeal to people from different musical tastes. Here's a couple of tunes that do do that.

Everyone seems to love a bit of Rusko. The majority of people like him, bar the Dubstep purists. He's done a remix of that new Basement Jaxx and Sam Sparro tune 'feelings'. I find the original a tad boring. This mix makes it accessible on a night out. Perfect for a student dj at a pretty good student night. No matter what it doesn't innovate or give us anything new but it is enjoyable. Make up your own mind.

Eryka Badu is a popular one and I have a nice, but oldish, remix of one of his tunes. It's a soul infused house number. Fun and glitchy it's also a very accessible song. It's by a bloke called Seiji who I don't know much about. All I know is that he's from London and has made a stripped done ghetto house tune that is pretty darn enjoyable.

Hope you enjoy both the tunes and whoever is in London I suspect will be watching 16Bit right now. I'll let you all know how Joker goes on friday x

If you haven't heard of Breaking News it's probably because they're Russian. If you have then you know your breaks and you most probably have heard of the tune 'Rush Hour' and Quadrat Beats remix of it. Well the russian triumvirate have released a new EP called 'Ya Booty'. On that release there is a particular remix that takes my fancy, and thats by the east Russian BreakZhead.

They turn the tune from a 'same-old-same-old' breaks tune into a relaxed but upbeat melody. It's Stingesque in many ways. I personally enjoy it's happy but sober bassline. Anyway hope you enjoy it and download as much Russian shit as you can get your hands on;

November, Tunes to keep you warm on the cold nights

November has dawned. The days are getting darker and the nights are getting colder. How about some songs to keep you moving on them bleak chilly nights.

Most people feel that remixing a Daft Punk tune is a bit like going to a Coldplay concert on ecstasy; It's pointless, you feel like you're gonna be sick and you're never gonna come up. This remix though is pretty darn good. Housey, Dubsteppy and bouncy make it fun and filthy at the same time. Make up your own mind about it but I find it f-ing enjoyable;

Daft Punk - Digital Love (Algeronics remix)

Dirty dirty dirty is what comes to mind when listening to Passive & Aggressive. Check their myspace for their 'Block, Rockin Beats' remix it's pretty sick. Back onto this track it's a filthy wobbly little number. Best for a party, preferably big speakers;

Passive Aggressive - Blow the Doors Off

Me and Joss don't like to talk too much about La Roux, we find her voice a bit over-rated (and a bit annoying). We do both like Boy 8-bit though. He's done a nice little remix of, Quicksand, which may not have heard before. He transforms the tune from Electro pop into a rumbling tech-house melody. It's epic but quite chilled. Make of it what you will;

I think Emalkay is one of the best Dubstep producers of this year. This remix will probably convert you if you already don't love him. It's a remix of Adam Freeland who is very pro people remixing his material. Emalkay keeps the vocals but gives it some nice little wobbles. He doesn't over complicate and the results are pretty amazing. I also thought I'd put one of my favorite Freeland remixes with it as well. The tune is absolutely sublime, simple but beautiful;

Last a remix from everyone's favorite remixer, NumberNin6. His remix of Breathe has been played up and down the country at almost every Dubstep or Breakbeat night. This remix is of Rob Sparx's new tune 'What You Gonna Do'. Like Breathe this is a BIG tune. Grotty, Grimey, Filthy, call it what you will but it's a proper big sound system production. Go mental for this one;

Alix Perez, leading the way for Drum & Bass Albums

People over the past 2 years have slated Drum & Bass. I think it's because people think D n' B is Liquid and that is it. They are of course fools and have not been paying attention to artists like Freq Nasty, Commix, Utah Jazz and Friction who have been keeping the scene fresh. I think it's time people started getting back into the scene. The best person to lead the way is Alix Perez.

You may or may not know this but he very recently released an album entitled '1984'. It truly is a thoughtful album and one that unveils a raw bleakness to the genre. This is not a bad thing and instead turns the album into an instant classic.

Buy it instantly but because I'm nice here's a preview of a couple of the tunes, much love;

So this isn't the first time we've mentioned TLGB aka The Living Graham Bond on this blog, but we thought as he's got an upcoming release it's time to give shouts in the appropriate direction. I'm really excited about this forthcoming release, he's an exciting new talent. Some people have dubbed him the new Fake Blood, although I don't really believe in doing this. It's similar to when a new young Argentine footballer breaks through everyone labels him the new Marradonna, they're always different. He's different from Fake Blood. There is a more melodic style to his production.

He's already done some big gigs, playing the last Chew The Fat at the Arches. And he has got plenty more on the cards in the future. I'm going to see him at Curriculum tomorrow night at Corsica Studios, come on down for this one, Riva Starr is on the bill too...

He's had support from some big players too. Kissy Sell Out has played him out Radio 1 as did Major Lazer, when they dropped his remix of Olive into their essential mix. When you are getting plays from the likes of Diplo and Switch you can't be doing much wrong...

Anyway, the e.p. drops on the 2nd of November, go out and buy it...

Sorry about the lack of posts, been very busy with uni work. I recently got sent a nice little package of tunes from Canadian producers Zeds Dead. Their production is very good I really like it, it's heavy stuff, some of their dubstep stuff reminds me of 16bit or Tek-One. You may already know them from the Barletta remix they did which went out on blogs like Hush House. They are pretty fresh on the scene and unfortunately they don't have any dates booked for Europe, soon hopefully. Anyway here are the tunes...

Hello folks. I've been limiting myself to one post a week due to dissertation commitments but I thought give you many tunes to play with. I'm sorry but all of this is Dubstep, with a little UK funky at the end but deal with it.

So first up is a tune I got off the Rub-a-dud blog called Ninja Gaiden. By the way this tuesday Dj Zinc will be at the Dub so get down there, it will be sick. Back to the tune, it's got some good voice samples and is quite uniform in it's makeup. It's really worth listening to it extremely loud because the low-end is pretty darn good. Anyway enjoy it for what it's worth;

J. rabbit - Ninja Gaiden

Next up is from someone I thought I'd never have to post, Doorly. I've always been wary of listening much to him because I'm a dance music purist. I'm the kinda guy who hates the idea of 'Ibiza rocks' and the mash-up of dance and Indie. I have kept on checking up on him and I do really like this remix. It's a remix of that new Cadbury's advert. It's dark and subtle that doesn't rely on bass to make the song. Make of it what you will;

Tinny - Zingolo (Doorly remix)

If you like Aphex twin's too much you may feel this remix destroys the original but this bootleg is pretty epic. Slick at the start and then drops into a grimy little monster. Dance-floor destroyer right here. It's done by a random person, so can't tell you who it is. Iy is though pretty amazing. Pleas enjoy preferably extremely loud;

I've recently re-discovered the delights of 16bit. He can make both dance-floor tunes and chilled Dubbier tunes at the same time. This falls into the first category. The industrial/transformersesque madness makes this an ideal big-system tune. Please though when you download this go onto youtube and check out all his tunes, pretty awesome stuff;

Songs for mid-october blues

Nothing really goes on mid-october so though I'd give you some tunes to mull over for a while. Oh also if any of you fools are in the toon head over to Zap at digital this friday to see my homeboy Dandy DJ.

dJ Fresh has released a new tune called 'Hypercaine' which, personally, I feel is quite average. Thankfully Nero lends a helping hand to bring it to a higher standard. It's a builder which heads into a dark and sinful bassline that would be welcome at Cosmic on a tuesday (without all the posers of course). Enjoy it, it is pretty awesome;

Next up is a tune mr Jay Fontaine over at the Dub blog posted by a bloke called Altimeter. It's a positive little number with a dark bassline that Makes a rainy day seem sunny. It's a bit repetitive but it's a slick little production;

Next up a fun and funky tune by none over than soul legends the Brothers Johnson. The original to the tune is amazing but the this little re-dub by some Norwegian bloke called Todd Terje gives it more lift and modernity to it's 'soul'. Anyway enjoy its funkiness;

Next up an old school tune from garage royalty. You may of heard of m-beat from the Ali-g film, they did that tune 'incredible'. This tune epitomizes the 90's garage and jungle scene, Has Jamaican roots but with big beats and soul samples included. It's a real delight, simple but heavy. If you played this at a rave the roof would be torn off I reckon. Anyway here it is, listen on loud speakers;

Style - M-beat

The next two songs are too good to give away for free but have a listen and go out and get them. The first one is from the new Modelsektor Body Language Vol. 8 Album. It is actually probably my favourite tune of the past month. It's a real modern garge banger. Good lyrics, sick drops and a fantastic bassline. Please listen and then go out and buy that whole album.

Finally the next sub Focus album has arrived and it is amazing, as predicted. He has created an album of very very little flaws. The tune i'm gonna put up is by far the best. It starts so nice and happy with an uplifting piano solo and then go's into this electro tinged dubstep beat. Real good fun, be prepared to hear tis on many a night out, i hope.

Alright me lover's, I've been away in Manchester for a while and thus have been away from my computer. I ended up seeing some pretty amazing producers and Dj's along my way though which is very lucky for you guys. Not all these are new tune but they are all TUNES, trust me. So enough with the preamble.

I was at the Warehouse Project last saturday for the Ape 4th birthday bash with an incredible myriad of DJ's. Congo Natty was really the only person I could really remember but he was truly amazing. Freq Nasty was there as well who is one of the most unique breakbeat dj's of really my generation. So in honor of that i thought I'd give you one of his bangers, enjoy;

On monday I ended up seeing Deadmau5 in Newcastle. I went into the gig with allot of apprehension though. If you are a fan of Deadmau5 on Facebook you would have realized he has got the most goonish of all fans, always commenting and forever worshipping him. I've also got his new album and to be honest it's boring. It's not as good as his first and has got allot of filler. Even so he did one thing very right on the night, he ended with strobe. Skream is back! although did he ever go? Everything this young Croydon lad does turns to gold. No wonder big players such as Diplo want to collaborate and play alongside with him, he's class. And he can play alongside anyone and stills kills it, even if it's not a Dubstep orientated night.

I've got two new remixes from him, which he's giving away to all the lucky people out there. Anyone remember a certain La Roux remix he gave away for free just under a year ago? Quite a memorable one!

He's an interesting producer as he comes from a very musical background, he plays the piano at a ridiculous grade and has composed pieces of classical music. He's from and based in Scotland so if you in Edinburgh try and catch him. Can't put out his tunes on the blog but have a listen to this youtube clip of Air and Lack Thereof and buy his e.p. if you like it, he is on Untold's label Hemlock

I think this tune is stunning, very experimental but could fit in being played out to dancefloor
